The geography of the church ranges from Morocco on the west to Iran in the east and includes countries of the Arabian Peninsula and Turkey — in addition to the northern part of Cyprus and Sudan. It includes the biblical lands of Babylon, Egypt, Persia, Tyre, and Sidon, which are made of today’s Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt plus many locations in Jordan.

There are four countries that are war-torn and totally unstable in this region. The church is either illegal or unwelcome in almost all of their countries.

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for Audrey E. Andersson, secretary for the Trans-European Division, who recently tragically lost her husband. Pray that she will feel God very near even as she walks through this dark valley. (See additional prayer requests for TED below!)

In an attempt to help you get better acquainted with the Division leaders of the World church, we are sending out a page with prayer requests as well as their pictures. Please join us in lifting up the Trans-European Division prayer requests as listed below.

BRIEF FACTS ABOUT THE TED: The Trans-European Division was first organized in 1928 and encompasses 22 countries that include: Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom, and the southern portion of Cyprus.

The area comprising the TED has a population of about 205 million people, with 86,000 Seventh-day Adventist members worshiping in 1,165 churches. Most of the division’s inhabitants live in what is considered a highly secular region of the world. Ministries focus on evangelism and outreach for the secular mindset.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the church members of the TED to hunger for a deeper relationship with Jesus, a relationship that calls us to be witnesses and yet live “set-apart” in the midst of the secular culture. Pray that members would prepare for Christ’s soon coming.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the youth of the TED to learn how to have a personal relationship with Jesus and to desire to make Him the Lord of their life. Pray for the Seventh-day Adventist education in the TED to be a light pointing young people to Christ.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the pastors and church leaders of the TED to have strength and wisdom how to lead the church toward heaven while meeting the needs facing their countries in the refugee crisis. Pray that we would be the feet and hands of Jesus to a hurting world.

ati-1

BRIEF FACTS ABOUT SID: The Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division operates in 23 countries. It is comprised of 10 unions and one attached field. The Lord has blessed this division with a membership of 3.5 million worshiping in about 24,000 congregations.

PRAYER REQUEST: Join us in praying for the church leadership in the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division, as well as for the growing membership, that the focus will continue to stay on sharing the three angels’ message with a dying world.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for Mission to the Cities in the SID. The division is especially focusing its Mission to the Cities efforts on Johannesburg, South Africa, and Harare, Zimbabwe, where emphasis is being placed on reaching affluent people. Pray for divine encounters with people of influence who may be able to share what they learn with others in their social networks.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the South Africa Union because SID leaders are pleading that God would give real breakthrough there. The South Africa Union has a population of more than 55 million but a church membership of only 150,000. This is an area in need of urgent prayer. In the SID they are praying to see South Africa catch the same fire that the other unions have found. For example, in Zambia, membership is more than 1 million.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the young people of the SID to grow in Christ and grow up to be laborers in the harvest. Pray that the young people can be used to lead their parents to truth. Pray for more missionaries and Bible workers to go out and share.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray about the racial tensions between blacks and whites. Pray for unity and love to be seen in the church, that people can see Christians are different.

The NAD is home to more than 1.2 million Seventh-day Adventists who represent every major cultural and ethnic group in the world, worshiping in some 6,000 congregations.

Even though the North American Division was the birthplace of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, it wasn’t fully recognized as a world division until 1985. However for more than 150 years it has promoted the mission of the church around the world, as it has spread the Advent Message to more than 200 countries.

PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the 60 hospitals, 1200 schools and 15 universities and colleges that are in the NAD, that many will come to know Christ through these institutions.

PRAYER REQUEST: Recently USA Today recognized the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America as the most ethnically diverse religious denomination in the United States. Pray that even in our diversity there will be unity throughout the NAD Division and congregations.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the youth in the North American Division, to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Pray that they won’t be influenced by the secular culture around them, but that they will become bright shining lights to their peers, actively proclaiming the soon coming of Christ.

PRAYER REQUEST: Pray that the Division will mobilize every member of the church in North America to participate in the final thrust of God’s great evangelistic enterprise on planet earth. Pray that there will be Total Member Involvement in North America, for youth as well as adults.

  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the Women’s Ministries Department of the Western Nigeria Union Conference, which is part of the West Central Africa Division, as they will be conducting evangelism in Edo Benin city, November 5-19, 2016. This ancient town is notable for fetishism and ritualistic practices. Please pray that God can break the chains that hold so many people in bondage!
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the “Luis Pasteur” Adventist School in Compache, Mexico. Over 800 children already attend this school, but many more are requesting to attend. So please pray that God will provide an additional space to accommodate more students.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the Year-End meetings that are being held in the different Divisions around the world. Pray for God to give wisdom to the leaders as they implement Total Member Involvement as well as other church initiatives in their local regions.

In an attempt to help you get better acquainted with the Division leaders of the World church, we are sharing their prayer requests as well as their pictures. Please join us in lifting up these leaders in your prayers.

eud

BRIEF FACTS ABOUT THE ESD: The Euro-Asia Division is a vast territory with a small number of Church members. 95% of them came to the Church as a result of the big evangelistic campaigns in 1990. There are 13 countries in the ESD including: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

The population in the Euro-Asia Division is over 320 million. In this region we have 113,000 members. They are very dedicated to the Lord but they now need a positive example how they can preach without big public meetings as mission efforts are getting more difficult in the region.

  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the church members of this region to have courage to find new ways to reach out and share the gospel with their neighbors, friends, co-workers and even communities.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for new places of worship, as this is a great need. The biggest congregations in the cities are often worshiping in rented places. New laws have now put a restriction on such practices.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for good church schools for our members. There are only 30 church schools in the entire division, and many children are leaving the church.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the evangelistic efforts and Total Member Involvement planned for Moldova, the Ukraine, and Georgia in February. 2017. Pray that the gospel can be spread among non Christians who live in the 10-40 window of this region.

wad

BRIEF FACTS ABOUT THE WAD: The West-Central Africa Division is comprised of 22 countries which include: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.

In the WAD there is a population of 250 million, with church membership at 700,000. There are 4 main languages spoken in this region: French, English, Portuguese and Spanish.

  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the West-Central Africa Division as the biggest challenge in this region is trying to reach the countries that are in the 10/40 window.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the WAD evangelism efforts as they hope to double the membership by 2020. To do that their special mission focus in 2018 is to have 20,000 evangelism sites division-wide with preachers from all over the world.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray that all members would be involved, in Total Member Involvement, inviting neighbors and friends to hear the good news about our soon coming Lord.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray that the strong-hold of darkness, of control by evil spirits, and enchantment with magic would be broken in these regions of the world. Pray that church members that still dabble in these things would be convicted to separate from darkness and seek to hold on to Christ’s arm of strength!
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for an army of youth to be raised up to serve Christ!

World Church Prayer Requests for

October 9 – 16

  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please keep praying for Annual Council delegates as meetings will finish up on Wednesday. Pray that God will lead every agenda and every discussion.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray that the mission of the church can be moved forward with Holy Spirit power and that Jesus prayer of John chapter 17 will be fulfilled.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the Division leaders. Each of these leaders, along with pictures, prayer requests, and facts about their Division are being featured daily on Elder Wilson’s FB page during this time. Click here to follow! https://www.facebook.com/PastorTedWilson/?fref=ts
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the East Central-Africa Division as they have major evangelistic meetings throughout their Division in 2017.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray that more church members take seriously the call to pray and to lift up the arms of their leaders in prayer. Inspiration tells us, “A chain of earnest, praying believers should encircle the world, praying for the Holy Spirit. Let all pray in humility…. In response to the prayers of God’s people, angels are sent with heavenly blessings.” (In Heavenly Places, p. 93)
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for those individuals that were reached during the outreach program on Sabbath, October 8th, when the Annual Council executive committee members went out into the Silver Spring community and surrounding area, asking to pray with people and giving out hope and encouragement with the missionary book of the year or special GLOW tracts. Pray for long-term results to follow!
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for those who have been in the devastating path of Hurricane Matthew. Countries like Haiti and Jamaica really need our prayers and support! Oh Lord Jesus, please come quickly!

A Note from Seventh-day Adventist Church President

TED N.C. WILSON

What a privilege to serve the Lord at this time in earth’s history when we see prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes.

The time for tremendous Holy Spirit-led evangelistic outreach to take place is NOW!

It is also the time for very fervent prayer and placing our requests before the Lord, especially asking for humility before our Creator and for the sending of the latter rain of the Holy Spirit.

Everything tells us that Christ’s return is imminent! Prophetic signs outlined in the Bible are accurate and tell us of what is to come. Thank you fellow church members around the world for participating in lifting up the following prayer requests in addition to your own.

As we kneel in humility before our loving God, let us ask for His direction in how best to proclaim the three angels’ messages with heavenly love through the power of the Holy Spirit in the cities and the rural areas.  Let us plead for revival and reformation in our personal experience with God, in our families, in our local churches, and in the worldwide church.

Thank you for your prayers for us. We are so grateful. We will pray for you and this precious Advent movement.

Pray earnestly for the expansion of God’s work especially in Mission to the Cities using Comprehensive Health Ministry and so many other outreach activities outlined in the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.

Never forget that we are part of a prophetic movement proclaiming a prophetic message on a prophetic mission. What a privilege to be part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, God’s remnant church, being used by the Holy Spirit in an unusual way as the fulfillment of Revelation 12:17.

May the Lord provide every one of us with heavenly direction as we plead with Him for revival, reformation, and the latter rain of the Holy Spirit at this critical time before Jesus’ soon return.

Regards, Ted

The President’s Prayer Requests

  • Pray for expanded emphasis on “Revival and Reformation” throughout the world for members, churches, institutions, Conferences, Unions, Divisions, the GC and throughout the church with earnest prayer during “777” for the latter rain of the Holy Spirit and the fulfillment of Joel 2, Hosea 6, & Acts 2.
  • Pray for worldwide unity in every church and entity based on respect for God’s Word, humble prayer, the Holy Spirit’s power, respect for accepted church policy/process and full engagement in the mission of the church in proclaiming the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14 and the fourth angel of Revelation 18. We need to pray for humility in our lives so we will be united in our submission to God’s leading and the process of the church to make commonly-agreed upon decisions.
  • Pray for personal and church-wide emphasis on daily reading and following the Bible through Believe His Prophets which emphasizes the reading & study of the Bible, God’s Holy Word.
  • Pray for heartfelt gratefulness for & full acceptance of the Spirit of Prophecy writings as being applicable today and that church leadership and membership read the materials on a regular basis. Pray for increased sense of urgency and realization by church leaders and members that we are living at the end of time and that Jesus is coming soon.
  • Pray for protection of our young people from ever-increasing worldly influences by focusing on the Word of God and service to others. Pray for increased emphasis on having local churches sponsor young people in mission outreach and service opportunities through “One Year in Mission” and many other programs to focus the attention of church members on the mission God has given us.
  • Pray for an increased emphasis on studying the books of Daniel & Revelation and understanding and promoting the wonderful blessings of the sanctuary service as a beautiful explanation of the salvation process. The sanctuary helps us focus on Christ and His work for us during His life on earth, His death on the cross, His resurrection, His current ministry for us in the most holy place in heaven, and His soon second coming.
  • Pray for strong cooperation and unity between the church organization and supporting ministries in the evangelistic outreach of the church.
  • Pray for united evangelistic and witnessing activities of every Seventh-day Adventist man, woman, and child around the world empowered by the Holy Spirit’s power as we submit to His leading in our lives. This will keep us active in God’s service combating apathy and complacency through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in each life. Total engagement and active participation of every church member around the world is a key to the final proclamation of the loud cry. As we submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit, this will allow Christ to make us one thus fulfilling Christ’s prayer of John 17 as we understand our role in this world as a prophetic movement and face the end of the great controversy leading to Christ’s soon return.
  • Pray for a full understanding and usage of Comprehensive Health Ministry (“medical missionary work”) allowing all church members to meet people’s needs and follow Christ’s ministry of service to others.
  • Pray that Seventh-day Adventist families model how Christ can bring peace and love into homes chasing away abuse and stress through the sanctifying power of Christ’s righteousness pointing to Christ’s soon return.

The other 97 percent are Buddhists, Shintoists, Muslims, Shamans and Atheists. The Adventist church membership of NSD is about 700,000. World Church Prayer Requests and Praise Reports for September 4 – 11

[NOTE: In the coming weeks, in between praying for various church needs that arise, we are going to be focusing once again on praying for the different church Divisions around the world and the needs that they have. This week we will start with praying for the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division.]

  • BRIEF FACTS ABOUT SID: The Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division operates in 23 countries and islands. It is comprised of 10 unions and 1 Attached Field. The Lord has blessed this Division with a membership of 3,514,060 worshipping in 23,972 congregations throughout the Division territory.
  • SID PRAYER REQUEST: Please join us in praying for the church leadership in the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID) as well as for Solomon Maphosa, the new Division President, his Executive Secretary, Gideon P. Reyneke, and the Treasurer Goodwell Nthani.
  • SID PRAYER REQUEST: The Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division is especially focusing its Mission to the Cities efforts on Johannesburg, South Africa, and Harare, Zimbabwe, where emphasis is being placed on reaching affluent people there. Please pray for Divine encounters with people of influence who may be able to share what they learn with others in their social networks.
  • SID PRAYER REQUEST: The area where they are praying for real breakthrough is in the South Africa Union. This union has a population of over 55 million but the membership is only 150,000. This is an area in need of urgent prayer. In the SID they are praying to see South Africa catch the same fire that the other unions have found, like in Zambia where the membership is over 1 million in that country alone.
  • GC PRAYER REQUEST: Currently there are reaping meetings going on in Mongolia from August 30 – September 11. Ron Clouzet (who is Ministerial Secretary for the Northern Asia Pacific Division) and his wife Lisa are doing simultaneous reaping meetings in several churches in Mongolia right now. They have asked we pray for wisdom, discernment and the Holy Spirit to work through them in all the churches.
  • ANSWER TO PRAYER: Thanks for praying for the Norwegian Union Prayer Conference, which took place in Norway August 26-28. God blessed with many attendees from all over Norway, including Union leaders. There were many powerful times of prayer as well as a renewed determination to move forward in prayer! Thanks for praying!

  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray especially for our Adventist Educational Institutions around the world as things are now underway for another school year. Pray for the many young people whose lives will be changed by being part of Adventist Education. Pray for the decisions that will be made this year to serve the Lord.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please continue to pray for the spouses of those newly hired at the General Conference as some are still needing to find affordable housing for their families that is not too far from the GC headquarters. Some spouses are also still struggling to learn a new language. Pray that they will find a new niche of supportive friends, and feel at home here in the United States.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for those that have moved to new positions in their work, that even if they aren’t carrying the same responsibilities as before that they will have peace that God is still working in their lives and that He has a special work for them where they are.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for the marriages of those that work in the church and full time ministry. The devil often seeks to destroy and undercut the marriages and families of those in service, and we need the Lord to put a special hedge of protection around these homes.

World Church Praise Report & Prayer Requests

for August 7 -14

  • PRAISE REPORT: We praise God for how He’s blessed the ASI (Adventist Laymen’s Services and Industries) convention in Phoenix Arizona this past week. All of the Division president’s, except one and his secretary is in his place, as well as many church and GC leaders, including Elder Wilson, have spent this past week at ASI discussing and praying about how to move forward together encouraging laity in Total Member Involvement. ASI represents many supporting ministries of the Adventist church. We praise God for what He is doing with our laity in and through these many ministries.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please continue to pray for General Conference, Division, Union, Conference and local leadership as well as the millions of laity that make up God’s Church. Pray that God will give us all wisdom, humility, and strength to move forward for His glory, working together in love and unity that the Holy Spirit can be poured out. While we’ve received a measure of the Holy Spirit, we are told that we need to continually ask for more.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for more laity and especially more youth and young people to get on board with Total Member Involvement. Recently Elder Wilson shared “Five Ways Church Leaders Can Encourage Youth in Total Member Involvement.” To read this message as well as powerful testimonies from Philippines Youth for Christ, click here!
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for the upcoming JAERIM Youth Conference happening at Sahmyook University August 12-15, put on by the Korean Union Youth Department. Jaerim means “second coming” in Korean and is also seeking to prepare young people for Jesus Coming by getting them involved in Total Member Involvement. We praise God for how He is working through young people around the world!
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Worldwide there are more than 500 cities with more than 1 million people each. On average, in these cities, there is just one Adventist congregation for every 89,000 people. Please pray for Spirit-led efforts to take the Good News where it has not gone before! Only through God’s power can this work be accomplished! We have no time to lose for Jesus is coming soon!

  • PRAYER REQUEST: Only about 15% of the Adventist Church’s membership is in the 10/40 window, and yet 65% of Earth’s population is there, and is largely unreached by the Gospel. World Church Praise Reports and Prayer Requests for July 24-31

  • PRAISE REPORT: We praise the Lord for how He blessed in the small Pathway to Health event in Beckley West Virginia. 1,722 patients were seen in 2.5 days. $6 million in care given from Dental, Vision, General Medical, Women’s Health, Podiatry, Beautician services, Massage/Hydrotherapy, Lifestyle Counseling, and even minor surgeries. There were even testimonies from non-SDA volunteers who were so impacted by one day of volunteer work that they stayed on throughout entire event and even attended the evening meetings. Also many beautiful testimonies from the patients, and many seeds for the Kingdom have been sown for God’s glory. Now pray that those seeds will take root and bear fruit for His glory.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please continue to pray for the Romania pre-Evangelistic Meetings. Pray for the different trainings, the prayer, outreach, and evangelistic-witnessing seminars. Pray for conversions, that many small groups will start, and also for the outreach ministries and Bible studies to be effective that people will be ready for the meetings in February. Pray for an amazing baptism of the Holy Spirit on everyone working and those who God is going to call to come to the meetings and learn and accept Jesus and Bible truths.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please for our church members in Turkey, and for those suffering for the sake of the gospel in the 10/40 window. We will see more and more political unrest and religious persecution in the coming days. Pray that God strengthens His people for these times as we prepare for His second coming.
  • PRAYER REQUEST:  Centers of Influence are finding positive response in the Southern Asia Division. Please ask God to bless and expand the work in these centers. This single division is home to more than one billion people, only around 2% of which are professing Christians of any denomination. The Southern Asia Divisionis home to more than 2,000 unreached people groups,* so the challenge and opportunity here is huge.  (*Joshua Project)

  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for a new director for HOPE Channel as Brad Thorp has resigned. They are currently working on contracts to have HOPE Channel in India, Rwanda, and Papua New Guinea. In Papua New Guinea, the people want to have the HOPE channel in the prison for the prisoners to be reached. Also, getting HOPE in India could add 2 million more viewers!

The population is very secular and materialistic and the devil is slowly closing off their hearts to spiritual things, filling the void with wealth and/or the desire for wealth. Please pray that God will pour out his Holy Spirit on His church in China, that they will boldly reach out to their communities and share the hope they have in Christ. Also pray that God will shake up Chinese society so that they will be open to help and hope from above.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please continue to pray for the upcoming Global Youth Day, which will be March 19th. This is where young people from all over the world will “Be the Sermon” seeking to reach out in special ways to their communities. Encourage the young people you know to be part of this special day. World Church Praise Report & Prayer Requests for Feb. 28 – March 6

  • PRAISE REPORT: Church leaders and members across Europe have been meeting to plan better ways to assist in the refugee crisis. We praise God for His moving upon the hearts of our members throughout Europe, and even here in the US! Keep praying for God’s struggling children in this great crisis!
  • PRAISE REPORT: We praise God for blessing Elder Wilson and his wife Nancy on their recent trip throughout the Middle East. (Click here to read more.) They were within 30 km of ISIS held territory, and were able to encourage the members in this difficult region. Thanks for your prayers for their safety and travels.
  • PRAISE REPORT: We praise God for the many testimonies we have received from the 10 Days of Prayer. Pray that members will stay strong and continue to pray. In South America, they are just starting their 10 Days of Prayer. Pray for God’s rich blessings there!
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for Fiji and those recently affected by Cyclone Winston, the worst cyclone to hit the island in memory. There’s been much destruction, and our members there need courage and strength as they put their lives back together. To donate to ADRA relief efforts visit: https://adra.org/emergency-donation/
  • PRAYER REQUEST: The General Conference Ministerial Advisory, Children’s Ministries Advisory, Youth Ministries Advisory, and Planned Giving and Trust Services Advisory meetings will be running over the dates of Feb. 28 – Mar. 6. Please pray for wisdom and Holy Spirit blessings on all these important meetings.
  • PRAYER REQUEST: Please pray for a full-length feature film that HOPE Channel is producing and finishing editing called Experiencing R.E.S.T.  There are 13 additional producers from all around the world that have helped bring this project together by following different Adventist individuals and families and their Sabbath practices. The goal for the film is to show the tremendous diversity and yet common practices in experiencing the Sabbath throughout our church.  The film will premier for the HOPE channel global managers that will be here at the GC for their Manager meetings in the next couple weeks. We are praying that God will be in every part of this movie and ultimately viewers will be compelled to also choose God’s Sabbath rest!

World Church Prayer Requests for Feb. 21-28

  • Pray for our missionaries serving in dangerous countries and territories throughout the Middle East and Asia. Some of their stories have been featured in recent Adventist Review Articles.
  • The South America Division has 250 missionaries serving in the 10/40 window. However, the SAD is also having financial problems now due to the Brazil economy. Please pray that they can continue to support their missionaries, and that God will continue to provide and take care of His children as many throughout the world church are facing financial struggles.
  • Please pray for the Greece Union. The union leadership is really feeling the need for God’s wisdom and guidance in how to help the people in this region.
  • Please continue to pray for the thousands of refugees fleeing the terrible situation in Syria, and for the many who are living in very difficult situations in refugee camps in Europe. Pray for church members to be able to help the refugees with physical and spiritual needs.
  • Please pray for the North Congo Union. The new president Mwangachuchu, asked we pray for them and their union as this is a very tough territory.
  • Pray that we will actively support overseas work and missions, both in our time, and in our donations and offerings.

World Church Prayer Requests for Feb. 14-21

  • Pray for the marriages of those in church leadership. There is nothing that Satan would like more than to see conflict in the home, or homes broken, for then he can more effectively destroy the life and ministry of those who serve. Pray that God would put a hedge of protection around the homes of our leaders, and also those of each of our pastors who serve throughout the world church.
  • Pray for the spouses of those who serve in ministry. Sometimes in the busyness and hectic schedules of ministry, it’s easy for the spouses to be left behind or not given the attention they need. Pray that God would give them strength to stand, to serve, and to also be the encouragement and helpmeet God has called them to be.
  • Pray for the marriages of the millions of Adventist throughout the world church. If you are married and there is serious conflict or division in your marriage, recognize that it is because Satan is at work—and rather than attacking your spouse, pray that God would give victory against the attacks of Satan. Pray that God would fortify your marriage and restore the love that has faded away. Instead of pointing fingers at what your spouse should be doing, pray that God would help you know what you should do. Pray that you can put selfishness aside and love like Christ loves His bride.
  • Pray for the many singles in our church, for these members often get left behind and feel very out of place and alone. If you are a single, pray that God would help you to be content and satisfied in Him. Pray also that He would make you strong to serve others and to make the most of your season of singleness. Rather than feeling like you’re on “hold,” allow God to make this season one of the most productive and fulfilling times of your entire life.
  • Finally, pray for those who have been widowed, separated, or divorced, and for the single parents who are struggling to carry on alone. Pray that God can help your church reach out more effectively to these members and help them bear their burdens. If you are one of these members, know that you are not forsaken. Pray that Jesus would be your True Love and companion (see Isa. 54).

World Church Prayer Requests for Feb. 7-14

  • Pray as General Conference leaders are discussing and praying about how to get everyone in the church (both leaders and laity) working together in Total Member Involvement. Total Member Involvement, a term newly emphasized by Elder Wilson and General Conference leadership, envisages that every Adventist believer will find ways to actively bring friends, neighbors, and strangers to Jesus, as we fulfill the great commission.
  • Please pray for Douglas Venn, the new director of Missions to the Cities and Global Mission’s Urban Centers. Pray that God will give wisdom as he helps coordinate and organize the many projects underway. Pray also that leaders and laity will be inspired to get on board and help share Christ in their cities. There are currently 43 cities with a population of more than 1 million that have no Adventist presence. There is a great need for sacrificial laborers to go live and work in these yet unreached territories and cities.
  • Please pray for Hope Channel as plans are being made to expand into new regions with the potential for millions more viewers. Pray for nationwide broadcast licenses in Rwanda, Madagascar, Zambia and Ghana. Pray for new studio and channel developments in North India for Hindi language (A language understood by 700+million people). Pray for R.E.S.T.  (Sabbath film joint film project). And finally, pray for new channel developments for Papua New Guinea, French, Fiji, Sweden, Cantonese, UK and the three new satellite channels in Inter America.
  • Please pray for the General Conference Sabbath School Ministries. Duane McKey, the new Sabbath School Department director, has asked for prayer for the development of new Sabbath School Lessons for all age groups. He’s also asking for prayer that God will give wisdom on how to help increase Sabbath School attendance for churches worldwide.

World Church Prayer Requests for Jan. 31-Feb. 7

  • Please continue to pray for the newly elected General Conference leaders and their spouses, that they will have Holy Spirit empowerment as they take up their new jobs. Pray that they will be able to find adequate housing, get work permits, and that the spouses can also get the jobs they need. Since many are moving into the area from other countries, pray that God will bless them with good friends, and just overall adjustment to living in a new country or city.
  • Please pray for the children of the General Conference workers to be protected from the harm and danger that constantly surrounds them. Also please pray that they will be converted and come to have a personal walk with Christ.
  • Please pray for the Korean, Japanese, and Indonesian young people. They have been facing difficulties because of Sabbath exams. Currently almost all the licensing and entrance exams such as bar exam, CPA, medical schools, doctor and nurse licensing exams, graduate school entrance exams, and many other public exams, etc. are on Sabbath.
  • Pray for the work going on in Rwanda as leaders and Bible workers are preparing for large evangelistic meetings coming up in May. This preparation is taking place even now.
  • Last but not least, please pray in a special way for Elder Wilson and his wife Nancy as they will be traveling overseas again the next couple weeks seeking to support the Total Member Involvement of the world church. Pray that God will not only continue to protect them in all their travels, but also give them wisdom how to encourage the pastors and many church members they will meet.

World Church Prayer Requests for Jan. 24-31

  • Pray for more time spent by all in Bible study and prayer allowing God to fully direct His people according to His will and not our will. This will be of great importance in helping to keep us close to God and allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to reverse influences and trends of worldliness that threaten God’s church and our daily lives.
  • Pray for strong cooperation and unity between the church organization and supporting ministries in the evangelistic outreach of the church.
  • Pray for an increased use of Christian literature on the part of all church members and increased emphasis on literature evangelism both through hard copy and electronic formats.
  • Pray for greater support and interest by all church members and administrators in maintaining Seventh-day Adventist education as truly Seventh-day Adventist in content and emphasis since it is vital to the church’s future work force and mission perspective.

World Church Prayer Requests for Jan. 17-24

  • Pray for those that have made decisions to re-dedicate their lives to God during the 10 Days of Prayer, that they will be faithful!
  • Pray for those backslidden members that have come back to church in answer to the 10 Days of Prayer, that they will continue to grow as they rediscover their true Love.
  • Prayer that we will not be content with the blessings that we’ve received thus far in answer to prayer, but that we will keep daring to ask for more (Eph. 3:20).
  • Pray that we will stay on our knees as we continue into this New Year, realizing that of ourselves we can do nothing, but through Christ, all things are possible.
  • Pray for our pastor and elders. Let’s ask God to show us how we can be more actively involved in our church, as we seek to see every member involved in ministry.

World Church Prayer Requests for Jan. 10-17

Taken from the prayer requests from 10 Days of Prayer – day Five. More resources and materials can be accessed at www.10daysofprayer.org

  • Pray that God will give you the desire to overcome sin.
  • Pray for family members and friends who also need to gain victory over sin.
  • Pray for those areas in your life where you still need to gain victory over sin. Ask Him to give you complete victory. (Ask God to help you believe that He can give you complete victory over sin. Do you still cherish any idols in your life? Bring them before God and ask Him to put hatred in your heart for those things.)
  • Pray that God will make you humble so you can see your weaknesses and ask for power to overcome them.
  • Pray that church leaders (your local pastor, conference, union, division, and General Conference leaders) will let God give them victory over sin.
  • Pray for the comprehensive evangelistic plans and outreach activities of all thirteen divisions and attached union (Middle East and North Africa Union). Pray for success in “Mission to the Cities” and in reaching rural areas.
  • Mission to the Cities—Pray for the South American Division and the 74 cities on which they have chosen to concentrate their outreach.
  • Pray also for the South Pacific Division and the cities they have chosen to reach for Christ: Sydney, Christchurch, Lae, Apia. Pray that God will send workers and that He will bless their efforts.
  • Pray that those people on your prayer list will recognize their need and open their hearts for the Holy Spirit.
  • Pray for God’s blessing to be poured out as we continue these special days of prayer, both corporately and personally.

World Church Prayer Requests for Jan. 3-10

  • Pray that our prayers would increase with fervency until Jesus’ promise of the full outpouring is fulfilled and He is returning in the clouds of glory.
  • Pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our families, that this will be the year of healing, of restoration, of binding up the wounds, and of growing and moving forward for God’s glory.
  • Pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our worldwide church and all the leaders, that they will be convicted to put away any pride, evil speaking, and clamoring to be first, but rather in humility seek for the blessing of God—heaven’s highest honor—even if others are preferred above themselves.
  • Pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our own personal pastors and elders, and fellow church members, that God will work in a powerful way during these coming 10 days, and in this coming year.
  • Pray for those backslidden members that God lays on your heart. Pray to have wisdom how to reach out and encourage them to be part of the family of God once again.
  • Pease continue to pray for the upcoming Ten Days of Prayer, which will be held January 6–16, 2016. If you haven’t joined yet, please consider helping get your church on board.

World Church Prayer Requests for Dec. 27-Jan. 3

The following prayer requests come from a staff member working at the MENA church headquarters. Names have been changed to protect the individuals involved as work in this area of the world can be risky.

  • Please pray for the students at the Middle East University. We need wisdom to introduce Jesus Christ and the Adventist Church to many of them. They need much prayer, counsel, love and guidance, and our resources are so limited.
  • Please pray for Sarah* and her family. She is an Orthodox Christian, with an abusive husband and unemployed sons. She’s struggling with depression and hopelessness. However, she’s found a friend in one of our Adventist teachers. We are praying for her and giving Bible material for her to read. May God help her to find strength in Him.
  • Please pray for our publishing team, as well as for all translators, proofreaders and designers that work for the church here. We all need to be focused, efficient and accurate, so the materials are ready and in good quality for the church members to distribute. We are seeing good progress, as we are renewing materials, creating new ones and improving periodicals (like the quarterlies for children in Arabic). But our need of God’s wisdom and power is constant.
  • Pray also for the distribution of our Christian books and literature that has already been translated. Since our work is in closed countries, distribution can be expensive and dangerous. We really need God’s divine wisdom, guidance, and protection.
  • Pray for teenager Ruth*, who is from another faith and country, but is here in our region temporarily. Ruth has a deep love for truth. Her passion and curiosity have led her to study the book of Daniel with a few of our team here. We are currently studying the book of Romans (at her request). Her family is planning to return to their homeland after winter, but she does not want to leave her new found friends. Please pray for God’s will to be done in her life.
  • Please continue to pray for the upcoming Ten Days of Prayer, which will be held January 6–16, 2016. If you haven’t joined yet, please consider helping get your church on board.

*These names are only a pseudonym, and have been changed. Thanks for your prayers!

World Church Prayer Requests for Dec. 20-27

The following prayer requests are from countries where it’s sometimes risky to share the gospel. Because of that reason, we have left certain details out.

  • Please pray for the 40+ service centers in our country. These centers are located in large cities where Adventist presence is nearly absent. Not only do these centers focus on meeting felt needs in their community, some have already become places of worship on Sabbaths. However, these centers are in dangerous territories, and we need God’s protection and guidance.
  • Please specifically remember the following centers as you pray:
  1. The service center that now hosts an English Bible class Sabbath afternoons.
  2. The service center sharing food with the homeless and beggars.
  3. The service center selling health foods and providing healthy lifestyle lectures.
  4. The service center which is a kindergarten.
  5. The service center teaching music lessons.
  6. The service center welcoming those recovering from disease.

Although you may not know the names or location, God hears your prayers, and each prayer makes a difference. Thank you!

  • Pease continue to pray for the upcoming Ten Days of Prayer, which will be held January 6–16, 2016. If you haven’t joined yet, please consider helping get your church on board.

World Church Prayer Requests for Dec. 13-20

  • Please pray for the new church leaders that have been elected during the worldwide division, union, and conference year-end meetings. Many are taking new positions of responsibility and need God’s wisdom. Also pray for those who now need to find new positions of service, that God will guide, provide, and give wisdom as they and their families make new adjustments.
  • Please pray for Douglas Venn, the new Mission to the Cities coordinator. Pray for him and his family as they move to the United States from Asia to take on this new work at the Adventist world church headquarters in Maryland.
  • Please pray for the Mission to the Cities communications coordinator, Karen, to have what she needs to be able to communicate well the news of what is happening with Mission to the Cities.
  • Please pray that leaders and church members will continue to band together, praying for new ways to reach their cities. We want to see Total Member Involvement in this mission!
  • Speaking of a great opportunity to pray, please pray for the upcoming Ten Days of Prayer, which will be held January 6–16, 2016. Pray that related materials will be translated and distributed in all regions of the world. Pray that more and more people and church groups will sign up and participate in the Ten Days.  And if you haven’t joined up, please consider helping get your church on board. The English materials are completed and available on the website tendaysofprayer.org.

World Church Prayer Requests for Dec. 6-13

The following prayer requests are from countries where it’s sometimes risky to share the gospel. Because of that reason, we have left certain details out.

  •  Please pray for one of our staff who works in the Media Department in our offices. She is overseeing the production of a series of lectures about Bible translations – their history, application, etc. This series will potentially be viewed by millions across our country.
  • Please pray for our Education Department. Christian education in our country is illegal, and we need God to work miracles so our members can have Adventist Education and others can come to the truth.
  • Please pray for the leaders of the 215 churches and 310 other congregations that are continuing to grow.
  • Please pray for an unnamed SDA Church in our region. This SDA church is the “mother church” in a very poor part of the world. Less than 0.001% of the population here are Adventist.Thank you for your prayers!
  • The world church also requests your prayers on behalf of Amanda Gaspard and others affected in the recent shooting tragedy in San Bernadino California, USA. To read the inspiring testimony of how Amanda, a Seventh-day Adventist, responded in the aftermath of the shooting, please visit the Adventist Review website. This is the time we need to be seeking the Lord with all our hearts, as Jesus coming is drawing near.

World Church Prayer Requests for Nov. 22-29, 2015
written by Willie & Elaine Oliver

  • Please pray for young married couples that are just over the honeymoon phase of their relationship, and are finding out for the first time how difficult marriage can be. Pray that God will give them patience, kindness, commitment and unconditional love for their mate.
  • Please pray for the many women and men in our churches who are married to mates not of our faith. That God will show them to use this opportunity to be conduits of salvation for their spouse and entire family as they follow Christ in His humility and love.
  • Please pray for institutional church leaders and local church leaders who spend so much of their time away from their families. That God will help them bring greater balance in their lives, so they can give adequate time to their spouse and children, to help make of their homes a more powerful witness.
  • Please pray for families that are separated because of military service or other work assignment in another country. That the separation time will not be long and have a definite ending time so the family can grow in their closeness to each other and to God.
  • Please pray for parents who need the Spirit of God to be patient and understanding with their children, so it is easier to influence them in the ways of the Lord.

Willie & Elaine Oliver are the directors of the Family Ministries Department for the world church.

World Church Prayer Requests, Nov. 15-22, 2015

Written by Heather-Dawn Small

  • Women around the world face many challenges. In Women’s Ministries we focus on six of these: poverty, workload, health, lack of education, abuse, and illiteracy. Please pray for women and girls around the world who deal with these challenges daily.
  • Too many women are suffering abuse of varying kinds. The global statistic is 1 in 3 women will experience abuse at some time in her life. This applies to our church also. Please pray that God will open our eyes to the suffering around us and that we may be used to help a soul in need.
  • Depression among women is a growing concern in our church. Please pray for our sisters who, because of religious stigmas, find no help or healing within our church. Pray that we as a church will be less judgmental of those with mental health issues and that we will seek to be more helpful.
  • Tragedies are occurring everywhere we turn it seems. Please pray for the men, women, and families affected by the recent terrorist activities in Lebanon and Paris.

Heather-Dawn Small is Women’s Ministries Director of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

World Church Prayer Requests, Nov. 8-15, 2015

Written by Mark Finley, World Evangelist

  • Please pray for a meeting that we have scheduled in New York City at the United Nations next Tuesday. I (Mark) am meeting with the ambassador of an un-entered country who we hope will help give us some great openings to share the gospel.
  • Europe needs prayer for wisdom how to reach the secular post-modern culture that is so widespread there.  Some significant plans are being made in coming weeks. Pray the Lord will lead.
  • Pray for China as there are such great needs in this region. We also have some opportunities in the coming days, and we are praying that God will do a great work.
  • Last but not least, please pray that we will be able to complete our new evangelism training center and church here in Virginia debt free. It will take a miracle, but we serve a mighty God.

World Church Prayer Requests, Nov. 1-8, 2015

  • Pray for the church’s world divisions as each begins their year-end meetings. Many important leadership positions have yet to be elected. Pray that all will seek God’s guidance and holiness and that all will highlight total member involvement in their territories as they seek to fulfill the church’s prophetic mission.
  • Pray for the many front-line missionaries like Roman and Raluca (who shared in this week’s UIP devotional) who seek to step out in faith to follow God’s calling.
  • Also the Middle East and North Africa Union needs prayer warriors. The roaring lion knows his time is short. MENA Union president Homer Trecartin asks for prayer for three families dealing with medical conditions:
  •  Front-line workers Rafael Reis and his wife, Glauria Reis, who is pregnant with twins and has suffered complications, have had to return to Brazil until the delivery. Glauria has been hospitalized.
  •  Egypt-Sudan Field president Kleyton Feitosa and his wife, Delma. Kleyton has undergone surgery on a recurrence of a tumor in his thigh in the United States. He is walking again, but Delma, while still in Egypt, suffered a mini-stroke. Praise God that she was with a group of family and friends, including a neurologist, at the time. She is now undergoing tests in the United States.
  • My wife, Barbara, and I (Homer Trecartin) are in the United States preparing for my hip replacement surgery in a week. We pray that all will heal quickly so we can return to work. Satan is attacking, but our God is powerful and will work even through these difficulties to accomplish His work. After all, He longs to come even more than we long for Him to come.

Thanks for your prayers!

  • Right now we are in the middle of Annual Council meetings at the Adventist world church headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. Church leaders from around the world are here to discuss and vote on a series of leadership positions and other church issues. Please pray earnestly for God’s blessing and guidance. Great spirit among everyone, and the meetings even finished half a day early! Something that happens very rare!)

Prayer Focus – Sept. 27-Oct. 4, 2015

Spiritual Awakening, Church Meetings, Centers of Influence around the world.

  • Let’s continue praying for people around the world to have a hunger to search God’s Word for prophetic truth following the Pope’s visit and all the publicity it generated. Pray that our eyes will be opened and many inactive SDA’s will return to church! These are such important days here at the end of the Great Controversy and we need to continue to pray that God’s will to be accomplished here on earth as it is being accomplished in heaven, as Jesus prayed while with his disciples. (ANSWERED PRAYER: God is working! People are coming to truth, and much literature was shared during this time.)
  • Please pray for the Pre-Annual Council (Sept. 30-Oct. 6) and Annual Council (Oct. 7-14) meetings: These are meetings that happen every year in the fall where church leaders from around the world meet at the world church headquarters in Maryland to discuss and vote on church issues. Please pray earnestly for God’s blessing and guidance.  Pray the leaders will be in tune with God and what His will is for all the decisions they will have to make. Continue praying for a revival, as never before, to happen among our leaders.  Pray for God to bless each of the meetings and the times of prayer. Lastly, pray that the leaders will return to their Divisions and areas of service after Annual Council with renewed passion to prepare our people for Jesus soon return. (ANSWERED PRAYER: God really blessed the pre-council meetings! Thank you!)
  • Please continue to pray that there would be “Centers of Influence” (an outreach center of some kind) in every Mission to the Cities location around the world. Pray for more and more of these centers to be developed. Pray that they are blessed, managed well, and will reach thousands for Jesus. (ANSWERED PRAYER: Plans for many more centers to be opened in the next few years! Keep praying!)

PRAYER FOCUS for THIS WEEK – Sept. 20-27, 2015

Please pray about Pope Francis’ historic visit to the United States this week.

  • The pope arrived in Washington on Tuesday for a six-day trip that includes a meeting at the White House, a first-ever address to both houses of U.S. Congress, a speech at the United Nations in New York, and major appointments in Philadelphia.
  • Pray that the Lord’s perfect purposes will be done this week and in the days to come as this world’s great controversy moves toward its final culmination.
  • A group of student literature evangelists and other young leaders are passing out 1 million GLOW tracts in Philadelphia. Pray that the Lord will speak to people’s hearts and that prophetic, inspired writings will be searched by people who are truly seeking understanding in these last days. (ANSWERED PRAYER: Very successful trip passing out GLOW in Philadelphia! God is working!)
  • ALSO – All the GC and Division officers (presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, and treasurers) and GC departmental directors, will be meeting Sept. 25-27 to discuss how to best implement in the next five years the Lord’s counsels from inspired writings of what He says our priorities should be as a church. This will include special emphasis on spiritual revival and reformation, total involvement of all members in finding their places in God’s mission, Mission to the Cities, Comprehensive Health Evangelism, Adventist Education, and Global Mission/10-40 window outreaches/church planting etc.  There will be  much prayer and planning on how each territory can best focus more on these vital priorities. Please pray that this leadership weekend will be a time of new spiritual renewal and commitment to mission for the leaders, as well as a time of team building, and that the Holy Spirit will guide and direct each aspect of the weekend. Also pray for good weather for this weekend! (ANSWERED PRAYER: This leadership weekend went very well and God held back impending storms to give good weather. Elder Wilson shared that they really saw God at work this weekend, and he thanks everyone for praying!)

Please continue to pray for these special requests:

  • Pray for the thousands of refugees fleeing the terrible situation in Syria. This can possibly be an opportunity for the Lord to reach these dear people now coming out to find refuge who have been difficult to reach living in that country devastated by war and ISIS.
  • Thailand has a crisis with a man who feels he is a last day prophet for our church. While he has been tested over recent years and found to be a false prophet, the media has picked up the story and acts like he is the real SDA leader/prophet. This bad press may hurt the public’s view of our church by many there.
  • Pray for all our church children and youth to see Jesus as He is and to be drawn into the last great revival and protected from Satan’s strategies!  And especially for all as they begin school whether in Adventist school situations, homeschool, or in public school situations. Pray that our outreaches to the young people in our communities will be blessed and fruitful!

SDA ministries are organized, and many leaders are selected to head vital ministries for the GC, Divisions,  and outreaches worldwide. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide each meeting and have His will in our church’s plans! (ANSWERED PRAYER: God blessed. There was an excellent spirit of unity. We experienced several good prayer times throughout the week in the different committees.  It was a good beginning to the new quinquennium.  Thank you for praying!)

Prayer requests from Erton Kohler, South American Division president, for August 16-23

The United in Prayer initiative is very encouraging. I believe it will be a huge blessing for the church and drive the great revival that we need! Here are some requests for the South American Division.

  • On Aug. 29, we will launch a new initiative to multiply the number of small Bible study groups in the division. Every union, local field, church, and pastor will participate in the creation of about 10,000 new groups. Please pray with us for this effort.
  • This week, a division task force returned from a 20-day visit with 25 missionary families financially supported by the division. The missionaries live in some of the most difficult places in the world. We are sustaining these missionaries in prayer and would like to invite you to join us in praying for them.
  • One union officer is struggling against cancer. Pray with us for his health.
