In Isaiah 55 we are told, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa. 55:8,9).
Since God’s wisdom and ways are so much higher than ours, how can we possibly ever hope to be who He has called us to be? Furthermore, how can we hope for Him to work in our church as we so desperately need?
The answer: Our only hope is through the power of the Holy Spirit!
In Christ’s Object Lessons, Ellen White writes, “Plead for the Holy Spirit. God stands back of every promise He has made. With your Bible in your hands say, I have done as Thou hast said. I present Thy promise, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (p. 147).
In Signs of the Times, referring to our urgent need of the latter rain, Mrs. White continues, “Let Christians ask in faith for the promised blessing, and it will come. The outpouring of the Spirit in the days of the apostles was the former rain, and glorious was the result. But the latter rain will be more abundant” (The Signs of the Times, February 17, 1914).
The blog posts in the following nine days will be a combination of short prayer thoughts mixed in with testimonies from our blogging team as they share how God awakened them to their need of a deeper walk with Him. It is our prayer that as we continue praying for the Holy Spirit to be poured out on our worldwide church, that we will also grow to have a much deeper walk with God personally, thus the nature of the more personal focus in the daily devotionals.
Let’s urgently seek the Lord today, personally, and corporately on behalf of our church! We know God is longing to pour out His Spirit upon us!
Heart Prayer Challenge
Dear Lord, as we begin this 100 Days of Prayer we want to renew our commitment to you and ask that you would do in our life what you alone can do through the power of the Holy Spirit. We also ask that you would build us up to be strong intercessors for our leaders and our church, and that you would send the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our church as you have promised. Thank you in advance for what you are going to do in answer to these prayers. Amen!
