I Prayed for a Knight in Shining Armor – By Melody Mason

I’ve been a hopeless and incurable romantic for as long as I can remember. In fact, I started dreaming about romance and about my knight in shining armor when I was only five years old.

It’s been many years now since I had those first childhood dreams, and I still have yet to see those dreams come true. However, as the years have gone by, I’ve discovered a love beyond any earthly romance.

Let me tell you about my prayers all these years and about the Knight in shining armor that has captured my heart.

I prayed for a man committed to God.

Jesus said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30).

I prayed for a man who would be a spiritual leader.

Jesus unashamedly declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me” (John 14:6).

I prayed for a man of high standards and integrity.

Others testified, “[He] did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth” (1 Peter 2:22).

I prayed for a man of the Word.

Jesus opened up His arms with love as He whispered, “I am the living Word, and I came to live with you” (John 1:14).

I prayed for a man who knew how to be a servant.

Then I heard others whisper with amazement, “Jesus made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men” (Phil. 2:7).

I prayed for a man who was full of spiritual life.

He smiled again: “I have come that they might have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

I prayed for a man of faith and prayer.

Then I watched with amazement as He went out and spent all night in prayer—for me (Luke 6:12).

“I know this may be frivolous, God, and it’s a small thing, but could you also send me someone romantic?” I had prayed. “Someone who will do whatever it takes to win my heart?”

Jesus said nothing as He lay down His heavenly honor to come to earth to win my love. Although I doubted His love and resisted His advances at first, He slowly, sweetly, tenderly won my heart. Then He led me to His great banqueting house, and the banner He put over me was love (Song of Sol. 2:4).

Last, but not least, I prayed for a man who would not be afraid of pain or trials.

I realized then that it was He, Jesus, who was carrying my cross and making the ultimate sacrifice of love, not for just anyone, but for me (Matt. 16:24, Heb. 2:9). Tears rolled down my cheeks as I stood in awe. And my heart melted.

Of course, Jesus is not just any man. He is my All in All and so much more! He is the True Love I have yet to fully understand. But I’m looking forward to an eternity of getting to know Him better, for He is the Knight in Shining Armor who has captured my heart.

For those that are single, marriage is often sought after and prayed for as the ultimate solution to one’s desire and need. However, those that are married will testify to the fact that, even when married to an amazing spouse, that person still cannot meet or fill all one’s desires or needs. The only way to be truly satisfied is to be filled and satisfied with Jesus.

Today we want to encourage you to take some time to write out some of the many ways that Jesus satisfies your heart and needs, for the list above is only the beginning. Whether single, married, divorced or widowed, let’s ask Jesus to be our True Love today.

Dear heavenly Father, forgive us for the times that we have put unrealistic expectations on others. Forgive us for looking to human companionship, friends, family members, or a spouse, to meet our needs. You alone can satisfy. You alone can provide all that we need. Today we look to You again, and ask You to fill our hearts with love, and to satisfy the deepest needs of our soul. We ask You to be our All in All. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Promises to claim: Phil. 4:11,19, Ps. 37:4,5, Ps. 144:15

Someone once told me, “When you discover Jesus is all you have, you finally realize Jesus is all you need.”
Lord Jesus, here is my song to you today:

I love you Lord, and I lift my voice to worship You.
    O my soul rejoice!
Take joy my King in what You hear,
May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.

Will Christ’s Bride ever be equal to Him or simply a helpmate to His calling, like the horse is to the Knight in shining armor?

Jesus is truly all the world to me….He never fails me…..never will He forget me…..Never will he ever leave me….and He will always be there for me always and I cannot begin to thank Him for all the answered Prayers that He has answered for me. He truly is my Prince in Shining Armor and I could not ask for anything more than to have His Love now and Throughout Eternity is my Prayer.

Thank you God for a love beyond anything we have ever known. Thank you for the love letters that you have written for us to read every day. We can hardly wait to see your sweet face!

Thank you once more Melody for allowing the Holy Spirit to use you to speak to our hearts. Many times we hope for the supernatural from the natural, the extra ordinary from the ordinary, perfection from the imperfect and total peace from the incapable. All have sinned and have run short of the glory of God. Therefore can’t take the place of Jesus the sinless one. We expect completeness from the incomplete. We want complete joy, peace, mercy, love and life from those who can’t even attain it for themselves. Let us earnestly seek Him who is whole and Holy. He gives all gifts in abundance, so we shall receive all in abundance. The most interesting thing is that, He is waiting to supply our needs while we whine and cry to the wrong people. Brothers and sisters, Jesus our all in all is calling us to surrender our lives and will to Him and He will give us rest, peace and tranquillity. Its my prayer this morning that we choose Jesus and crown Him the king of our hearts and live a blissful life.

Jesus is ALL, I need, He is ALL I need, Jesus is ALL I need is our prayer compare to this world.

O love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in Thee,
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
    May richer, fuller be.
Thank you Lord Jesus for Your love which is from everlasting to everlasting.
