Do It Again, Lord! – By Ruthie Jacobsen

Years ago, while we were conducting evangelistic meetings in the west of England, I came across an account of the great Welsh Revival of 1904. As I read, a deep longing grew in my heart that has never gone away.

One story told how a truck driver approached a church with a delivery. However, the Holy Spirit’s presence was so strong that by the time he could see the church, he had tears rolling down his cheeks. He later explained, “I couldn’t help it; the Spirit of God was all around.”

How long has it been since I was in a prayer meeting where I was moved to tears by the Holy Spirit’s convicting presence? I’m not pleading here for an emotional experience. I am simply describing a heart cry that when I come together with God’s people, His presence be so real, so vivid, and so palpable that I am in awe before Him. Do truckers who rumble past our church on Wednesday evening sense that something of eternal consequence is happening inside? Do it again, Lord.

Another report from Wales in 1908 says, “The role of the police has changed from hauling drunks into the jail to helping get cars into and out of the church parking lots.” Oh Lord, let it be so again, in my church.

The effect on the children was overwhelming: “A bus arrived one evening and it was discovered that the youngsters had been singing, but before they arrived at the church a spirit of repentance had already broken out.”

In 1855 Ellen White described an event in Topsham, Maine: “Twenty-eight were present; all took part in the meeting. Sunday the power of God came upon us like a mighty, rushing wind. All arose and praised God with a loud voice. … It was a triumphal time. All were strengthened and refreshed. I never witnessed such a powerful time before” (Manuscript Releases, Vol. 5, p. 226)

Four years later, in Kalamazoo, she would enter in her diary: “In the eve the church followed the example of their Lord and washed one another’s feet, and then partook of the Lord’s Supper. There was rejoicing and weeping in that house. The place was awful, and yet glorious, on account of the presence of the Lord” (Selected Messages, book 3, p. 261).

Glorious on account of the presence of the Lord? Do it again, Lord. Please, do it again.

We’re just a few days away from the 10 Days of Prayer which starts January 6th.  We encourage you to gather your friends and fellow church members and make plans to be part of this great time of prayer.  Whether you meet in your church, in your home, or as a family, expect God to do great things for you as you unite in prayer.

Consider the following quote from Inspiration:

“It is when we are engaged in earnest work, working according to our several abilities, that God manifests Himself to us, and gives us grace for grace. A working church in travail for souls will be a praying church, a believing church, and a receiving church. A church whose members are found upon their knees before God, supplicating His mercy, seeking Him daily, is a church that is feeding upon the bread of life, and drinking of the waters of life. The promise, “Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you,” will be verified to them” (Testimonies to Ministries, p. 205).

Dear Heavenly Father, as we prepare for the coming 10 days of prayer, we ask that You would do great things for us. We want Pentecost to be repeated in our midst. We need Holy Spirit blessing and power. Help us to stay on our knees until this blessing comes. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Promise to Claim: Zech. 10:1, Acts 1:8, Heb. 2:2

Do it again Lord !!!!! Do it again.
Why not , Has not our Lord promised a special outpouring of His Spirit in the last Days? Would everyone agree that it’s later than it’s ever been before? God is not going to finish this work with less power than He started it with.
By all means DO IT AGAIN LORD !!!! DO IT AGAIN!!!

Dear brothers and sisters, please pray for me that the Holy Spirit will give me the patience necessary to take care of two family members with dementia. At times I find the experience overwhelming and difficult. I would like God to use the experience to refine me.

    • Justina

Beverley I am praying that God give you the patience and competence to care for these two beautiful persons. Remembering that it is not a result of anything that you or them have done; but simply a disease process that has taken them over. Remember the days when they were not living with this horrific disease. Allow the great memories of the past to give you the strength that you need to overcome.

      • Beverley Joseph

        Thanks

Dear brothers and sisters please for me and all others who are going through the 40 days of fasting and praying at The Church of the Oranges. May our lives be transformed and our spiritual growth increase, and may we labor in our communities, homes and work places to winning souls for the Glory of God. I claim it all in the name of Jesus. Thanks all!

  • Jill Simpson palffy

Amen..I plan to most definitely be involved.
I had the honor of meeting you Ruthie not long ago at our church in Westminster.
I would ask during the 10 days, if you all could please uplift my family and my 9 month old son, Josiah.
Josiah suffers a rare seizure labeled catostrophic, called infantile spasms, and also partial seizures due to viral meningitis at 2 weeks old.
He also suffers severe delay and mobility due to extensive brain damage in the back lobes..but praise God his frontal lobe was barely damaged!
He is a happy little guy irregardless of the sufferings.
It has taken a tremendous load on my family and my marriage in the last year..as my husband suffers anxiety/depression.
We desperately want him to be able to go to Weimar in California for treatment.
Due to being on only one income(mine) it isn’t possible..especially now with our son.
BUT I know with God all things are possible and if it’s Gods will, it’s Gods bill!
I so desperately want my family whole again and my husband better..
I know the power of prayer is the only way..
Thank you and God bless all of you in 2016!!

    • JoAnn

Jill, I wil be praying for you especially during the 10 Days of prayer. My daughter attends the college at Weimar and was able to take the class Optimize your brain from DR Nedley. It was a tremendous help for her with her anxiety. She is a new girl! I will be praying for your husband to be able to go to Weimar if it is God’s will. A less expensive option is to purchase his book, The lost Art of Thinking.

      • Jill Simpson palffy

Thank you..I do have his books! Unfortunately I think my husbands to the point he needs professional help..
        It’s been a really
Hard year with our son being so sick.
We see a doctor and counselor but they don’t push the health law and only meds.
        I am not
Impressed with the counselor at all..but we can’t afford
anything else..it’s been a hard time financially with my husband not worling..and our son being sick.
        God has been providing though!

    • Justina

I will pray for you and family Jill. Hold onto God’s promises in His word. They are life. Believe that God can do whatever is necessary to resolve any issue in your life..

    • Nancy

Jill, Thank you for sharing and asking for prayer. I am inspired by your loving approach to all that is right for your precious Josiah. I am sure it is as God sees not only him but all of us in our incompleteness. God is able and he may make Weimar possible or have a different answer to help your husband recover. I am giving thanks that you have your family complete with The Lord, you, your husband and son. I am praying right now.

Thank you Jesus for helping me raise my children as a single parent to adulthood. The Holy Spirit kept us together as a glue. As they are now adults and at times we do have different opinions and approaches to life which is normal. I am praying that the Holy Spirit keep us again glued so that we are not separated by minor things. You did it Lord I know that you will do it again to my family so that we reach your planned destination for us. PLEASE DO IT AGAIN! All this I am asking believing it will be done for I ask it in Jesus’ name Amen.

Please pray for my father, his name is Paul.He is a heavy drunker and a smoker and he eats every kind of animal that exists on earth.Though he was born frm an Adventist family as far as i can remember i have never seen him in church.l strongly believe that the same God who struck Paul by lightning on his way to persecute God’s people in Damascus, is stil the same.He can change my father too.l also have five of my close family members who are backsliders and three of my siblings who are also drunkerds, two of them are drug addicts, one is now a thief and can still anything even from family members. This guy is a real trouble causer.l know and trust God alone can change all of them. Also pray for me continue praying for my family and myself until Something good happens in our lives.
