A Prayer Answered with German Punctuality – by Raluca Ril

Believing that God has called us to serve as medical missionaries, my husband and I started praying more than a year ago that He would open the doors for us to start a lifestyle center in our community in southern Germany.

This seemed like an impossible request to us because we have limited funds. But God says the things that are impossible with men are possible with Him (Mark 10:27), so we kept praying in faith.

This spring God miraculously provided the funds for us to get the medical missionary training we needed, however, after praying for more than a year, we still saw no doors opening for us to have property to start a lifestyle center.

Finally, we came to a crossroads this fall. With no provision in sight for us to start work in southern Germany, we decided that maybe we should move east and work with a friend who was already starting a lifestyle center there. Our friend agreed to have us join him but said not to come until late October. We were disappointed with more delays but tried to be patient, believing that God knew best.

Only a few days before our planned move, God completely surprised us.

It was the second to last Sabbath before our move from southern Germany. My husband, Roman, had been invited to speak in two churches. Honestly, he hadn’t really wanted to accept either speaking invitation, but God had impressed his heart to say yes. So he did.

At the end of one Sabbath program, Roman and I spoke for 30 minutes with a friend who happened to be visiting the church that day. This friend abruptly offered us a piece of property to start a lifestyle center here in southern Germany.

We were in shock. The property fulfilled all the requirements that we had studied about in the Spirit of Prophecy: buildings already stood on the property and it had a good water source, a nice country setting, and no direct neighbors — a feature that is difficult to find in Germany.

Our friend had planned to use the property for another purpose but said he felt impressed to dedicate it to our work.

It may seem that God’s answer came at the last minute. But we know He was right on time. Jeremiah 32:27 tells us, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” No, nothing is too hard for God!

Let’s dare to ask for the impossible because God delights to do the impossible for His children. We know because we have just received an impossible gift from Him.

Raluca Ril, together with her husband Roman, have authored the 10 Days of Prayer materials for 2015-16. They are medical missionaries in Southern Germany.

Practical Application:

It is easy to become discouraged when we pray for something for a long time and God does not seem to answer. At times like this, it is easy to start trying to help God. Abraham sought to help God. So did Rachel and Jacob. But the result was disappointment and heartache.

Is God asking you to do something that seems impossible? Have you been praying for something for a long time? Keep praying and trusting in God’s power. Invite a friend to pray with you. Wait on God. If it is God’s will, then it is His bill. If He has sent you, He will provide for you. God wants what is best for you more than you want it for yourself. Learn to trust Him even when it seems that He is running late.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You that You have called us to be co-workers with You. We are grateful that You can provide in the most miraculous ways. Thank You for Your love that does not withhold anything good. Help us, Lord, to wait on You. Help us not to lose our hope and peace when Your answer seems delayed. Keep us from trying to help You. We thank You that You can do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” In Jesus’ name. Amen.
